You shouldn't count on getting into the video game industry. It's extremely competitive, and a lot of companies will treat their employees like s*** because they're "doing them a favor by letting them work on video games."

That said, if you would be okay with a generic software development job a CS degree is probably one of best degrees as far as being employable goes.


Yeah, for the reason you mentioned, and in case something else in the field comes up, that's why I'm doing a CS degree and not a stupid game design / development / whatever degree. The way I see it, if I get the degree and am able to get a job in games, great. If I finish the degree and don't want / can't get a job in games, still great, there are plenty of other things I can do with it.
