The bill doesn't do anything to combat the one thing R state legislatures are doing that could seriously be called "killing democracy" (i.e. creating the possibility of sending alternative slates of electors). The other voting restrictions (and the intent behind them) are bad, but the evidence seems to point to them not being particularly effective (on the flipside, VA made it way easier to vote and Youngkin won anyway). By setting up existential stakes on a fight they were obviously going to lose I wouldn't be surprised if the Dems end up suppressing their own votes the same way Trump did in the Georgia Senate race (i.e. if you believe everything's rigged anyway you're gonna be less likely to vote).

You're confusing killing democracy with Republicans winning elections. The fact that Republicans might be wrong about suppressing votes making it easier for them to win doesn't change that their strategy is explicitly anti-democratic.
