Dammit, had a whole post typed up and closed the tab by accident.

I was leveling my team up to 50 in anticipation of Volkner. Even though he's an Electric gym-leader, due to Sinnoh's shitty Pokemon selection, he has a diverse team that can't be stopped by just choosing Ground-types. And I thought I'd finished, but as I was putting together my team of Grass- and Ground-types, I realized that Sylvester was still down at 46. So I threw a Lucky Egg on him and went underground to beat on some Houndooms and Gravelers.

Three levels later, I was at around 35% health, but I needed maybe two more battles to level to 50. I figured a Golem could take out two Ponyta to get the necessary EXP. One battle went by fine. The second, the Ponyta used Low Kick. For those who don't know, Low Kick is a Fighting-type attack (stronger against Rock) that does more damage to heavier foes (Golem is thicc AF). And with that, I lost my long-running Geodude. RIP Sylvester (Level 5 to 49).

With Sylvester's leveling a flop, I picked out my team and went after Volkner. His gym was annoying, because again, there are only three fully-evolved Electric-types in Sinnoh, so a bunch of trainers had Psychics or Steelix or whatever. I beat him all the same though. Sure, I wasn't exactly prepared for the number of Ice Fangs that would've been 4x effective against Rafael or Shay. But I had Stephen with me, and cursed body disabled Ice Fang long enough for Shay to Bulldoze Luxray into oblivion for the win. With that, I now have all eight gym badges, and next up is Victory Road and the Elite 4!
