Not having to work or pursue work for an income can certainly reduce the chances of COVID exposure if you aren't WFH, and also allow you to pay the premiums to have Instacart shoppers do your grocery shopping full time. Having a small fortune also means you can leave your home city if it is threatened by freak weather events exacerbated by climate change, like Ted Cruz just opting to fly to Cancun while his city freezes. Youre looking at it myopically.
