I hate to burst you bubble but you can't really prevent being cheated on, unless you're one of the lucky ones who finds someone loyal quickly and stay with them for life.

It's not like I chose to have this person cheat on me or even tried to date them knowing they would, I thought they were my good friend for a couple years before hand and although looking back there were some red flags I ignored because of my inexperience and naivety there was absolutely no way I could have known they would do this, and that's how most people are cheated on, through being blindsided.

Although youre right that you cant control someone elses actions I would wager that youre now hyper vigilant and will probably be more sensitive to such red flags.

Being cheated on by someone you dont love is like, Meh.
Being cheated on by someone you love is soul crushing. Especially when they cheat on you with some mediocre actor.
