Coins and currency uses a grading system. The system is out of 70 for both coin and paper.

The collector value of an item can vary wildly in just a difference of .5 or 1. An MS 67 is certainly worth less than an MS68...in some cases there could be hundreds of MS67s floating around in the pop reports and under five or ten 68s or higher. The value can vary wildly between grades.

I see on the Numismatic Gauranty website there has been 1 submitted that graded 69, 62 at 68, and 610 submitted at 67 for the 2018D lincoln cent(just your average circulation coin). The guy with the 69 could likely sell his for thousands, the guys with the 68s a few hundred and the 67s...maybe not even enough to make back the cost of grading. They took a chance and thought they may have had "the one" and they all failed. This also depends on the population reports from the other reputable websites.
