He said "We're looking for a health contribution for adults who refuse to be vaccinated for non-medical reasons" as this comes just as the province's health officer Dr. Horacio Arruda resigned after public criticism of his health measures that included overnight curfew and a closure of gyms and restaurant dining. Quebec has the highest cases in all of canada reaching over 10,000 a day and hospitalizations shattering records along with Ontario and New Brunswick. Legault didn't say what he payment would be but said he wanted it to be significant enough that it acts as an incentive to get those people to get vaccinated as unvaxxed people still make up a large portion of people in the hospital eating up health resources and are a burden to the province.The tax is likely MORE than $100 but details will be released in the coming weeks and warns unvaxxed now to get vaccinated. The contribution could be included in people's tax filings.. 10% of the province remains unvaccinated and those people take up 50% of their beds causing staff shortages and surgery cancellations. He is looking at further expanding the use of the vaccination passport such as hairdressers and other personal care services but wanted to go further than that with the tax including alcohol and cannabis stores. He said it's a question of fairness to the 90% of the population that has made sacrifices who have had enough of unvaxxed people continuing this pandemic.
