On the bridge, did you have a fight with the brother or...not?
I just beat the brother last night and got to the part in the library where the one NPC gives you a Rosary Bead for stopping the noise (it's the Rosary Bead that speeds up movement). I believe I'm close to another boss battle. We'll see.
