The unfortunate truth is that Dokkan designed themselves into a corner with how simple the game is. There's only a few ways to actually make content harder and it mostly involves raising numbers on the enemy side.

I'd love a little more strategy but the random rotations makes it a little too difficult to implement. So here's my idea to fix Dokkan completely:

Instead of a set rotation you can place 3 of your units onto the board. Units get tired after being placed so they go on cooldown for 1 round. This would essentially let you have 2 "teams" that you could pick and your rotations wouldn't get messed up by putting a good unit in the 3rd slot to block supers. Maybe they even increase the team size to 8 so you could have 9 total characters with your friend leader.

You could also pick your characters based on the orbs you see, your enemy typing, stuff like that. It would also open up design space for new concepts. Maybe this unit is crazy strong but he gets tired for 2 turns instead of 1. Also new cards could get bonuses for being in the 3rd slot without feeling like you're wasting the card by only seeing him every 3rd turn.
