I would guess they did intend on having me play Zestiria first, given how I was pretty much expected to understand malakhim from the beginning. They should've made the two games interchangeable - you could play them in either order... or skip Zestiria entirely like I probably will.

AFAIK Zaveid is in Zesty but I may be wrong on that. I'm not quite sure how long malaks live. For all I know, they could be eternal unless killed by a slave-driver exorcist. Would have been nice to get some lore about that. I don't remember seeing any books about that in the cathedral library when I infiltrated the place. Maybe because the Abbey doesn't know anything other than "They're our slaves because they're magical beings that we're still superior to, which means we can use them."
