The more time I spend in the fitness/bodybuilding community, the more I realise that so many men have pretty toxic and unrealistic standards for how their bodies should look.

A combination of people lying about steroids (influencers, celebrities, marketers, etc), people misrepresenting their results or using camera tricks or just straight up lying about the timescales...it creates a lot of people who 1) expect their results to come in a matter of months or 2) want to achieve physical results that are frankly impossible and require pretty dangerous intervention to get close to.

I guess there's an argument here to say that men are inspired by unusual physical specimens, but to me it just seems like ED and dsymorphia of a different form.

You take a guy who quits hanging out with friends and going to social occasions or eating anything fun and replaces that with a 2-3 hour daily grind in the gym coupled with dangerous amounts of anabolics and who perpetually thinks he's too small and who becomes completely preoccupied with his body fat percentage...well for whatever reason guys think this is swole.

I like training and getting fit but there's definitely something wrong with the fitness industry, even if guys make it seem like a lot of fun.
