This story has nothing to do with a reaction to the f-word other than it being the context of the misuse. If they've gone to the trouble of setting up watchdog software I'd be willing to bet that every student is well briefed on their policies for using their equipment at home or in school. If you rent someones equipment and sign an agreement that it won't be used for non-educational purposes then tough crap, the school can do whatever they like with you if you break it.
