Lockdowns made sense when there was either hope of totally containing the virus or a short term goal to achieve (e.g. vaccines, not overwhelming hospitals). Stopping the virus completely has been off the table for almost two years, we have vaccines already, and this Chinese lockdown is probably too severe for the hospital goal and theyll be in the same position theyre in now once they lift it. I don't understand your point. Let's say I give you that China's strategy is probably overkill for merely running hospitals at an "optimal" level. I also understand lockdowns aren't a permanent solution and never were. How are you making the leap to lockdowns as a whole not making sense?
