| captpackrat 11/02/21 6:19:56 AM #3: | The way the British spell certain words drives me crazy. I was in my 20s before I realized that "gaol" was pronounced "jail" and not gah-ole. And I was even older before I figured out that "draught" was supposed to be "draft". A lot of nautical terms have wacky spelling too. Boatswain (pronounced bosun), leeward (loo'erd), forecastle (foc'sle) --- Minutus cantorum, minutus balorum, Minutus carborata descendum pantorum. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
