Conclusion (Tales of no longer the fast food of JRPGs)

The series has been long overdue for some serious overhaul and change because I felt like even with Berseria being the best entry in a long long time, the formula was starting to stagnate. I really like how Arise has evolved that formula without losing the essence of the Tales series' identity.

The game has exceeded my expectations and is a great game overall but it has some flaws which stops it from being an all-time classic or even a GotY contender in what is probably the weakest year for video games in history.

So if I had to rank Arise in the series, I'd say it is tied with Vesperia for second-place and below only Symphonia.

Back then I would have said Vesperia is the better game but I replayed it a year or so ago and I noticed so many flaws that I didn't before and realized it wasn't as great as I thought. I'm someone who rarely if ever back pedals on my opinions and thoughts but Vesperia is one of the few cases where I have. It still holds dear to me but I no longer put it on the pedestal like I used to.

Recommendation: A must for Tales series fan and an essential game for fans of the JRPG genre.
