Yeah, that's the gimmick of the Watchers. Over the years, they've changed the reason why from time to time. I think the best explanation comes from the Earth X trilogy, but it was sort-of a What If? story itself. In fact, the Watcher in this show is a Watcher that eventually, in comics, breaks the policy of non-interference and is ultimately banished from his people for it - in that instance, he helped the Fantastic Four protect the Earth from Galactus. --- "It is too easy being monsters.
