AoE is fine, especially if you bear in mind that Quick Nock can reset Bloodletter (and, by extension, Rain of Death) at a 30% chance. Combine this a reset during Mage's Ballad (especially the one you can force from Empyreal,) the faster spam speed from Army's Paeon (plus the lingering effect during next song) and you rarely need to keep DoT up on more than two targets unless you're fishing for quickcharging Apex Arrow.
