It sounds like they're turning it into a middle school drama. It sounds like it's an extremely loose adaptation. Like they rebranded a script of something else as Avatar and call it a day. Sounds like the 100 year war isn't even a thing, Zuko isn't the Son of the Fire Lord, Aang doesn't doesn't even know he is the avatar, Bending isn't common knowledge etc etc. Hell they do not mention any of the nations/tribes or bending at all.
