Random off-the-wall question: Does FFXIV separate players into different servers named after summoned monsters, or is that just a FFXI thing? Just popped into my head for some reason, and now I'm curious. So there's 8 data centers, soon to be 9. 3 in Japan, 3 in NA, 2 in Europe and 1 coming to Oceania next year. The data centers are: Japan: Elemental, Gaia and Mana NA: Aether, Crystal and Primal Europe: Light and Chaos And each data center has multiple servers, and every server can play with anybody in the same data center. And servers are named after all sorts of things. Monsters. Characters from past FF games. Weapons. Spells. Etc. So like I play on the Gilgamesh server in the Aether data center. Other servers in Aether include Faerie, Cactuar, Adamantoise, Jenova, Midgardsormr, Sargatanas and Siren.
