Theres this perfect mixture of familiarity meets alienation, attraction meets repulsion, man meets machine, male meets female, life meeting death, and so on and so forth. Its washed, but sheen. Heavy contrast. Honestly? He may have been the greatest artist of the modern era ~ opening up a door for entire waves of other surrealists to follow, and sort of bridging the gap between fantasy & abstraction a little bit there. What I love to see is his continued fixation on the Xenomorph, Derelict, & Space Jockey archetypes. Thats how most of us were introduced to him and he was correct in sticking to that subject matter.
