As memeable as making it to like five retirement matches and losing by 1-3 votes every time is, that means that not only was it strong enough to reach a retirement round numerous times, it's strength never faded. I'm of the opinion that a song's greatest chance of reaching retirement is in the first or second year it gets into a contest. After that, people tend to get tired of it. Id Purpose kept its support base for, what, eight years? It deserves to have finally sealed the deal. (It's also one of the least-transitive entrants I've seen. It basically *only* has close matches, even in the early rounds.) I doubt it wins the contest, but Top 8 is awesome.
