The reason Nintendo Switch Online doesn't have a ton of the great classic games even to the level of the old Wii Shop is because they don't own them. The Wii Shop was an absolute godsend for its time because Nintendo capitalized on most of those other companies not caring so much and allowing their games on the old service. Then they noticed there was a market for them. Now the companies are releasing their own games themselves because they know there's bank to be made. Mega Man collections. Street Fighter collections. Castlevania collections. Hey, Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters even. Nintendo's good stuff that they can get is already up there. We're still missing GB, GBC, GBA and N64. I think the Switch could emulate the Gamecube, DS, 3DS and Wii if they really wanted to as well.
