It's already going critical. Birth rates are plummeting and the US is going to be in rough shape for the future decades. You can say the same thing for most developed countries actually.

US is doing quite well actually. Immigration and birth rates of immigrants is what is helping us. US will be closer to 500M people in 2100 than 350M.

Germany is probably most screwed western country. France and UK are doing ok, they could have slow and steady growth or decline.

Japan is most screwed. They should have ~60% of their current population by 2100.
