| Slayer_22 08/01/21 9:47:15 PM #22: | FridgeBeard posted... 2's whole shtick revolved around the "murder your maker" and defeating the original character themes, and you could tell they were pushing it so hard they didn't stop to think that, actually, Alex wasn't a terrible dude when all was said and done, so they had to really hamfist it. I remember when the game first came out and a little after that one of the main arguments was that this was just some offshoot Mercer that formed from the nuke in 1 and the original was still out there. If only. That could be interesting, and could cancel out this bullshit that Alex turned evil because humanity wasn't worth it or whatever. I never understood why they even skipped past Alex as the main character. The writers before straight up handed the storyline of the next game over to the devs on a silver platter and then the devs are like 'hmm...nah, let's make Alex evil and introduce generic military man with his generic daughter!'. Dumb as shit. The entire game I was thinking 'damn, there's gonna be some massive plot twist at the end'. But nope.
