To be honest they weren't coming across as you describe them here, but I see where you're coming from now. Agree that as a society we tend to put these people up on a pedestal, and fall far short in recognizing the people who keep our country running day-to-day. My sister went to Thailand to teach for a couple years and they practically worship teachers there. They had events where they lined the teachers up on a stage, and students and families walked up bowing and laying flowers at their feet. Could you imagine that sort of adulation in the States?
