They switched to using Flash animation (which is not an inherently bad thing, but easy to use badly) and started using a method where each limb/body part is rigged to move independently, almost like a 3D model. Rather than draw every frame they can create poses that the computer can then draw all the frames in between. Its usually very obvious when a show does this, because the computer doesnt really know how to apply the principles of animation, like squash and stretch, anticipation, follow-through, etc., so it doesnt look correct to our brains the way traditional animation does.
