That means it would actually be 1818. HOWEVER! He is seeing the address from the inside of the store, meaning you'd have to reverse it a second time. So it's 8181 after all. That's dumb. If you see a word painted on the outside while you're inside, you don't read it reversed. You would reverse it yourself. Like you wouldn't read "rebrab" from the inside, you would read "barber".
