He was viewed negatively despite never going as far as Obama did when it came to violating human rights (with the exception of "enhanced interrogation" and extraordinary rendition) and iirc he was never as opposed to the extent Obama was concerning basic freedoms (whereas Obama made John Adams like a nice guy).People give Obama a lot of flack for the drones, but honestly how else could you play the war? Boots on the ground are only good at getting shot at and blown up by ieds, but the drones allow us to attack the enemy without any risk of retaliation. Same result: dead enemy, but with far less risk to US troops. If we where using conventional methods we would have been out of the war long ago. The only reason you can even contemplate staying is because the drones do some much of the dirty work now.
