So I watched this twice, the second time sober, and I appreciated it more.
I counted 3 times where a lady was on fire in this film:
When Marianna is stripped naked near the fireplace trying to dry herself from jumping in the ocean to save her canvases. It looks like she is on fire.
When she accidently lights the headless portrait on fire.
When Heloise and Marianna have a moment near the fire, and Heloise dress catches on fire.
One thing I didn't understand. When she was seeing what seemed like a ghost of Heloise in the hallway. I think this happens twice. And then they have one moment of looking at each other when Heloise chases after her in the white dress and says "turn around". Did Heloise have a twin sister?
Anyway, I'm a sucker for love stories. When I saw that she was holding the book open to chapter 28 in her portrait with her child, that almost got me. In a happy way. Bittersweet ending. 9/10
