I'm in an Indian reservation and apparently just letting dogs roam around without leashes is just a thing here. I was fixing a flat tire (the amount of broken beer bottles along the roadside is almost comically absurd) in town and I mentioned what happened to a guy who I was talking to and he said the dogs are normally docile but probably came after me because "they aren't used to someone who looks like you", so the dogs are racist too.
