Spend it even if it's not something you need right now, prep for another class and such. Your retainer can hold a lot of gear for you for the future. I just finished by buying every single piece of Poetics gear in the game at the 50, 60, and 70 tiers last week. It's essential stuff when your going back to level old classes after finishing the MSQ, since Poetics gear can take you through an entire 10 level run of content (50 to 59, 60 to 69, and then the 70 gear until cap) without any big issues so you don't have to constantly change your equipment. Since your actually DOING MSQ with your first job, you'll start seeing better gear than the Ironworks stuff probably...halfway through Heavensward? EDIT: If you decide to preorder Endwalker, don't bother buying any earrings, though after that. The preorder earring give you an EXP buff, can be equipped no matter what level you are, and the stats make all earrings below level 80 obsolete (except gathering and crafting earings) --- ...
