When its literally every character and they're all working towards the same goal of the world not being destroyed its pretty lazy writing when most of them have mo reason or motivation to be that pointlessly difficult. The amount of times that problems could've easily been avoided by even the most basic communication was lazy writing. Everyone was always making things worse all the time and very few ever had a reason for it besides the aes sedai.
