I think that Sega's problem is that instead of leaning into that arcade style consistently, or blowing up the gameplay of a Sonic game completely, they've tried to split the difference between that sensibility and a more modern one, to frequently unsatisfying ends. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest!
