Retelling but I hate calling it a "remake" given how vastly different it is.

What's even funnier is CV1's true remake, Castlevania Chronicles (X68000) came out in 1993. That's still only 7 years after 1986's original release.

Conceptually speaking, they're still ports. They had to rework games for certain hardware.

On that note, Donkey Kong Country (1994) got a demake in 2000 for Game Boy Color.
