FDR was sending destroyers to Britain and already starting the process of convey escorting before even joining. It's similar to WW1, where if you put enough merchant vessels out there with enough navy power to protect them, unrestricted submarine warfare would have eventually pushed the Americans into war. After all, it's hard to rationalize neutrality when you're losing American merchantmen and destroyers to an enemy that's sitting right off your coast. --- Hey Trashcan Man!
