Considering we live in an era where there's this thing called "The Internet", it's generally way better for companies to just release info on new games when they're ready, and not hold on to info for a specific weekend once a year, or worse, feel compelled to make stupid pre-release hype trailers for games that they won't be ready to actually release for years and years to come.

Not to mention that it's hard to care about any one game when multiple companies are announcing dozens of them all at once. Even good games can slip through the cracks as they get drowned out by the hype for larger games. It's far better for developers to announce on their own time, thus giving more attention to each individual game rather than arbitrarily save up for a single annual announcement.

The entire concept of E3 in general honestly makes game news worse at this point, rather than better.
I disagree. I like everything getting announced at once (well, a lot of stuff). Its overwhelming excitement and hype all at once. Plus, things still regularly get announced throughout the year so its not like everyone is holding off until e3 every year.
