that area is known for its abundance of ruby & sapphire, and apparently there's gold in them there hills. idk, i was too distracted by the biodiversity (salamander hotspot, hello!) to notice the rocks.

mica is everywhere down there, too. finding big chunks/sheets was rare, but trails and creeks and gravel would sparkle because of it :D


Ya, I am more of a rock and mineral nerd..hence the user name!
It soulds like there could be some cool stuff in there.
Here we have cool stuff, but it's been so much that...for instance, just a quart crystal is unheard of in The Adirondacks. Tons of Quarts but no real Crystals.

Having said that, just below the ADK range is where you find Herkimer Diamonds if you are familiar with those.
