I feel like they shoved this in out of the blue to give another crystal reference to old FFs, the metaphor stood fine on its own without a physical crystal being the origin of life imo. fun fact: FFIX was promoted as being the game when "the crystal comes back" and then they just shoehorn it in at the end of the game lawl Kuja's boss theme is indeed fantastic And I think the ending narration is meant to be Vivi, but it took me a while to put that together.
