Been watching yashahime (the spinoff of inuyasha starring his kid). It feels a lot like the original in the sense that the plot goes fucking nowhere after it gets introduced and instead they beat a monster of the week while occasionally but not really getting slightly closer to their end goal. The main characters are simple but work fine.

The fighting is extra trash though, which is odd to me. The same attack goes from being worthless to oneshotting important enemies and back and forth. There is no consistency at all in power or ability to dodge or tankiness or anything. Unlike the original series they also have done absolutely nothing to get stronger or learn new moves or anything really. The main characters aren't any stronger and don't know any more or have anything more than after like episode 3 and I'm at episode 16. Well no, I guess Towa did learn how to absorb energy but she figured it out in like 15 seconds and they basically just told her she could do it and then she did.

It is easy to watch though. You can zone out for a while and not really miss anything.
