E3 definitely doesn't make sense from a cost standpoint and industry insiders will generally tell you it's a massive pain in the ass. With how the news cycle works these days, it doesn't make any sense to spend all that time, effort and money to share the limelight when they could dominate the community's attention for a full day or longer with a single tweet.

I feel like at this point it's more a thing for tradition than an actual meaningful showcase. E3 is one of those things that's only relevant because it already has a name for itself.

I'll probably just look at a 2 minute recap of Nintendo's activities after the fact.
