A guy shot you in the head, so instead of leaving you're going to hunt him down for some reason with no motivation whether you like to or not Then if you actually go to the place you're told you're attacked and possibly looked by flies (guess they you need to seek revenge on them) Before dealing with the guild of Elvis impersonators and the guys who cosplay as ancient romans Also despite being canonically a dude who lives in this land and traveled all other the place, not a vault dweller, you don't know who anyone or anything is or what the history is and you have no friends. So by default you are the most bland bad boring motherfucker in the Wastes. And then the big slap fight isnt over you or loved ones or your home or anything you can get invested in, its about which random faction that doesn't care about you gets to a run a casino The pure evil one or the nice but flawed one. And none of the main quests are really memorable beyond 'Go meet the other factions " which you'll do by ignoring it. New Vegas is a mess, people only pretend it's the second coming of Christ because Bethesda didn't make it.
