There's a really cheap Airbnb in LA that I stayed in for all of February 2020. It's an old radio building (that still does some broadcasts) and they repurposed several closets and tiny radio rooms as airbnb rooms. My room was literally just a blow up mattress and a shelf above it that had a big broadcast radio thing that was no longer used. I think it was smaller than the cupboard Harry Potter has to live in. The microwave smelled burnt and leaked a black tarry fluid. It disappeared my second week and never returned (I think it caught fire because the burn smell increased for a few days after its disappearance). There wasn't a stove or any sort of kitchen. I never bothered with the fridge that was there because everything else was gross and I didn't trust anyone else staying there around my food. So I mostly ate dry foods and ate out. But the "room" was barely $500 for an entire month in LA, so I think I still saved money.
