I'm sorry, it's easy to be a forever-doomer when living in the country that has suffered the most deaths from covid. When so many people are still not vaccinated. When so many people voted for someone who was actively undermining democracy and made mask wearing a political division in the first place. When there are variances that can be created that vaccines might not be able to fight off as well in future.

Just look at Japan who had a culture of mask wearing before pandemic. Japanese people wear masks in public when they are sick because it's the right thing to do for people around them. Japan doesn't have as many people vaccinated by percentage. Guess what though, they are still wearing their masks. Of developed countries Japan did one of the best taking in account its population. They also have one of the highest life expectancies and lowest crime rates.

Sorry if I would rather look to Japan for guidance. I'll be personally wearing my mask as a fully vaccinated person.

I mean, you said Japan doesnt have the same amount of people vaccinated as the US so of course it makes sense they are still wearing masks. CDC is full of expertise and science, I dont think you randomly following another country is a wise decision.
