Anyway, spent a good while making my best effort to optimally craft and equip everyone, since I have two new party members and I'd never done anything with Sylvando yet. Spent skill points for everyone and did some forging. Found it funny that my horse is seemingly immune to the toxic pools around the ruins. Got told explicitly by an NPC that I need the "magic key" to get into the ruins. Good to know. Need to find some platinum ore to forge better armor.
