I remember when me and my family came home from a trip once, my father found out by the smell in his room that he had smoked pot, and told my mom.

So when my mom found out, she went into his room, pulled down his pants, and beat his ass so hard with a belt that I heard him screaming from the other side of the house.

I was 10 years old at the time, and at that age I knew to NEVER do drugs of any kind.

And I knew even more after my brother had gotten arrested twice for possession of marijuana, and while my mom didn't beat his ass for those two times. She yelled at him a shit ton.

Yet, even after that. He still did and does smoke marijuana. Which brings me to the question: Why?

Why would someone still do marijuana if it's illegal? I get that in 2021, everyone has realized and accepts as common fact that marijuana is a relatively harmless drug for the most part. But before that, why would ANYONE deal, grow or smoke marijuana to begin with? It's illegal, and for a time we had a 3 strikes rule in regards to drug offenses. How could this not deter anyone from using drugs at all?
