They should portray the developer's vision. Being able to easy mode through a key boss fight takes away from the experience.

Having that one crazy hard boss or level is an important part of the culture and experience of the game.

I had an idea in my head about making a video game with a soul crushingly difficult boss fight. Like basically impossible even for people who can do super punch out blindfolded with the despair you feel IRL being part of the game itself.

Every time you die and reload your save the boss gets a little easier without anything in the game telling you that this is happening and eventually you'll beat it if you keep trying.
