I think a core key difference is also that bill gates has operated in the corporate world completely differently from trump IN A sense that Microsoft was public company which has a large degree of transparency and accountability to its public shareholders. By comparison trump has always operated private non public closely held companies which in his have he has operated with a huge degree of secrecy.

im not saying that its by virtue of a private company because there are a ton of them that Im sure operate a great deal more openly and transparently than trumps did.

but if he was say thrust into a public company with accountability to different investors a less centralized power (a board of directors and larger number of shareholders) he would likely have been more competent at running america.

Putting any policy discussion aside, much of how he operrated was as if he expected to run America like a private corporation where he and his family were the only board members and he maintained a controlling interest in the stock. Ie: he had full control.

I think when people say run the country like the business world they dont intend it as a comparison to the trump businesses, they intend it like a public company like Microsoft or Bloomberg which does operate closer to the government with various checks and balances (except the shareholders are the citizens, the board the legislature (not exactly) etc).
