A dozen sites repeating the exact same version of a story might just be repeating ONE source's flawed story over and over. Knowing WHERE a story is coming from originally can be a huge help in knowing whether or not you should trust it.

Militant Marxist-Leninists are currently claiming this about the Uyghur camps in China. Not that the reeducation camps don't exist (pretty sure the Chinese government has acknowledged they exist), but they question the severity of it and if they're actually "concentration camps." They're saying the original claim all originates from one fundamentalist anti-Chinese far-right man named Adrian Zenz (and data from a study with laughably small sample size) and all subsequent reporting has just been parroting or rehashing him. Note: I don't agree with the implied conclusion here, regardless. I think any sort of forced culture erasure is deplorable, and I think defending actions like that just because you think those perpetrating it align with you politically/ideologically is ethically bankrupt.
