Topic	I need to vent about my sister's ridiculous algebra 2 class

The algebra 2 teacher has been absent for WEEKS, because she's also coaching the girls' soccer team and the team is pretty far in some tournament or other. They haven't been able to get a substitute because covid (lol) so the person they have in front of the class is some babysitter who literally can't even solve the problems. It really and truly is as ridiculous as it sounds. They watch a video of the teacher doing a couple math problems. The TA goes "uh did everyone get that, because I sure didn't." Then they do some practice problems on a worksheet where the answer key is wrong because the absent teacher sucks at math too. It's every bit as ridiculous as it sounds. I've been working with my sister to overcome the ridiculous non- instruction she's been receiving and she can actually understand the material well once someone actually explains it to her and works through her misunderstandings (shocking!) But what are the kids without a Math Guy in their family supposed to do? My sister was saying she felt like this was as high as she could go in math, which is absolutely absurd. She's otherwise a straight-A student. Like, do you know how fundamental algebra 2 is? These kids will struggle in precalculus and then calculus. They will struggle in physics and AP computer science. I can't believe they chose soccer over math. What a ridiculous school. I'm so mad. What are her plans after high school? If she's not planning on STEM, then the higher levels of math may not be necessary.
