It's kind of funny and a bit sad but there are really people like this that I've experienced in real life. The name I go by isn't my first name but my middle name and you would be surprised how aggressive some people can be about "correcting" me on that.

Theres no power over anyone here, its just cut and dry literal/technical vs acceptable in general everyday use.

I would never correct you on that, unless something came up about your given/real/legal name and we had a discussion. You gonna really argue your real name isnt what is defined how society decided what that is defined as? Why would you argue instead of accept that your real name is not what you go by, and theres nothing wrong with that.

I dont care if you want to say your name is anything you choose to make up. Legit have no power, care, or motivation. If you came up to me and were like, My real name is this and I asked if thats whats on your drivers license, birth certificate, and legal name...if you can say yes, then I have no argument there. If you say no, then it isnt your real fucking name by the technical definition that has been in place forever and the basis of societal naming. I dont know why that would upset anyone. Arguing is like suggesting Im trying to hold power over you for stating 2+2=4 and you want it to be something different and Im wrong for literally using defined rules. Like...you can make up whatever you want but that doesnt mean Im literally wrong.

If the topic wasnt about clarifying and correctness, I wouldnt have even mentioned the irony. I just find it funny, its not like I give a shit what she goes by...it was only a thing because it is ironic that shes correcting something to something that would technically also be incorrect.
